That would be trading, not investing. If you don't need the money then let it run and trust the periodic rebalancing that happens to the portfolios.
I get what you mean...
.....although as someone who spent a couple of decades in a US tech 'unicorn', I was also given some advice by a wise man who said "it's worth taking 10% of your ESPP just in case"
️Would I have been better leaving it all untouched?
Sure, for most time periods chosen....but having a little to one side was not a bad call, and enables other random things (experiences/goods) to be done that might not have been on the radar at precisely the moment I sold....
I make a point of never looking back with a "what-if" mentality.

I think this is the wisest comment I've read on this forum in a while. Thanks Mike.

I totally agree.
Also, removing some profits isn't the right or wrong answer, except for the person doing it.
You might want to use the excess to invest in something different, buy something you wanted and now have the "surplus" to do so, just lock in a gain for peace of mind etc.
What is important is everyone has their own objectives, needs and circumstances - investing is still true.
Gambling is taking profits daily, or dipping in and out frequently - not your personal occasional rebalancing.
YMMV

I can see all the assets have moved with the exception of some cash and the KLAC holding-it's correct to await the additional shares and move it 'whole'. Ive done some calculations and I would estimate we are within 1.74% of the Cobens Tech figure reached on 3 June(the YTD high). I would expect Lifestyle to be similar. In fact most portfolios should be very close to their last ATH
Tech YTD performance on that date was +43.96% net so circa 42% as of today.
-
Thanks Adam. We'll wait and see. You said that it could be a few days until the figures shown are fully accurate, so we won't know the full picture until then.
ETA: FWIW I've just checked my dashboard and I don't think it's changed since last week. As I said, no rush (and it'll probably do me some good not to check it daily!)
-
We are reconciling everything currently and awaiting the new KLAC shares.
-
Let's hope it all changes for the good.
-
Fyi, I can see the full KLAC holding including the new shares have been credited to Crest and Seccl. Now we will move this and one remaining asset relating to the Optimum models. Valuations should be available shortly. I will get an update on when you can all see them.
-
Tentatively, today(maybe a.m) I will follow up
-
Valuations coming tomorrow morning. There is one asset to move relating to Optimum. Ive checked Tech and it's 100% reconciled and correct-showing about 5% off the ATH as of last nights close.....which I agree with.

Hi Adam. On the subject of valuations, can you please confirm the time of the pricing point each day. I assume it is the same across all markets whether closed or is still open rather than the close, or other time, of individual markets but please correct me if not Thanks. Ken

9pm Uk, which is close on UK/US equity and and ‘funds’ which won’t always be the underlying fund holding if foreign. Fx taken at 11.30pm Uk ish.will need to check with WBS but pretty sure it’s the same. Whatever the close price is we take that just pointing out some fund prices are not the close due to foreign markets but they close at 9pm to price Uk books

Barring a sell off into the close you should all be pleasantly surprised when you see updated valuations tomorrow. Within a whisker
of all time highs based on my tracking over the ‘dark’ period -
Yes you can

of all time highs based on my tracking over the ‘dark’ periodI'm guessing that there is yet a glitch in the matrix; I'm showing as a tiny slice down between 12/6 and 18/6.
I'm not hugely bothered as I'm sure it'll sort itself out in due course.
Thanks for keeping us updated Adam. It's appreciated. And I wonder whether 'the dark period' is destined to go down in IM folklore; there seem to be a good few of us who check out holdings daily (and I thought it was just me!)

I don't think the numbers are updated yet, or at least mine aren't as the values I see are the same as I saw on Monday.
-
Correct-it's not a glitch, it has yet to update.
-
Updates are in progress, some balances are moving around some not-so until I hear assume it's fluid.
NB. I can ISA wrappers moving, SIPPs not. I should know more soon.
